Mini Lush Haul

As promised, my mini Lush haul!

I'll film these so you can see what they look like in case you haven't seen them before.
I'll do them all separately. No doubt they will take me a while to get through.
I love getting stuff from Lush, but this is the first time I had it delivered. If I'm honest the snow completely put me off going out to get them but the box does smell amazing and it's so all delicately packed too to make sure they are all in one piece when you get them.

Mine was delivered by Royal Mail so lets be honest I wasn't expecting them all to be in tact. I also love the fact that the person who packs it also puts their little sticker on the box just like they do with the pots of moisturisers, So thank you Carl wherever you are for my in tact Lush box.

This first one is a Floating Flower, unsurprisingly it smells very floral, out of the 4 things I got this one has the strongest scent.
It smells like Jasmine and Ylang Ylang.

It is a bath bomb but this one fizzes slowly while floating on the top of the water.

This one is Twilight and it smells mostly of lavender, this is a really good one to use before bed as lavender helps you relax. This one also has Ylang Ylang oil in it.

As you can tell this one is your average bath bomb and fizzes just under the surface.

This one is Space Girl, this one has glitter on it so I'm going to guess there is more inside but I'll let you know when I use it. It smells fruity and has Bergamot and Grapefruit oil in it.

Again this one is a bath bomb that fizzes under the surface releasing glitter and who knows what from the inside.

This one is called The Comforter and it smells like blackcurrant. It smells lovely.
This one is a bubble bar, you break it up and crumble it under the running water to create the bubbles. Now I've seen a few people use these and I use these quite a lot but I only use a tiny amount mostly because I don't think you need to use a quarter of it each time, you get a lot of bubbles for a small amount and partly because it's a bit wasteful.

I hope you found this helpful if you're maybe new to Lush products or you weren't quite sure what to try next.

Look out for the videos coming up of these in action.

Film Review: Into The Woods

I watched this film quite recently and if I'm honest I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.

As the title suggests the film is pretty much all about going into the woods and it follows 4 different stories, the baker and his wife, little red riding hood, Cinderella and Jack and the bean stalk.

They all for whatever reason need to go in to the woods to get what they wish for and we all know that saying, be careful what you wish for. They all then meet the rest of the characters like Rapunzel, Prince Charming and The wolf.

I liked it don't get me wrong but its one of those films that now I've seen it I probably wont watch again and if I'm honest I think it has been given quite a big hype that it doesn't really deserve.  Although I do think James Corden did really well in it. He's the main character which is weird to say he is surrounded by people like Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp but he did a good job.

You can watch the trailer for it here.

All in all I'd give it maybe 7/10..based on the fast that it wasn't a bad film and some of it was funny and sarcastic but it did have a lot going on, maybe too much, but that's just my opinion. The songs in it reminded me of Sweeney Todd too which was a bit weird.

Give it a watch and let me know what you think.

Monday Musings: It's a funny old world

Monday Musings

Yay it's Monday...again.. hmph.
Hate Mondays, especially when you have the Thursday and Friday before off work which makes Monday blues twice as bad. I spent a large portion of my weekend watching films, hence the random film reviews that I've been posting, seeing my parents and sleeping. So I don't have much to say about the weekend if I'm honest.

Friday however I did have my nails done again, in black glitter, gotta love that.

Again it feels like forever since my last Monday musings, these weeks are really starting to drag and to think that Christmas was only 4 weeks ago it seems like months ago.

One thing that did brighten my week though was that my Lush delivery arrived, so watch this space for a mini Lush haul. I think did really well not to spend a ridiculous amount and yes I'm counting that as part of my skin care routine therefore it is totally contributing to my new years resolutions. There's a reminder of that post here, although, I haven't done so well on the reading this week on account of the films I've been watching instead but I'm definitely going to be reading more this week.

I'll start that Wednesday as I have a meeting after work tomorrow, what's better than a being taken for a meal and drinks to show appreciation for all of your teams hard work, so I will take pics of that and attempt to remember for next week.

One thing I have read recently is my horoscopes, now I don't usually pay any attention but this one just struck a massive chord with me and what's going on in my private life right now.

It's a funny old world. Everything happens for a reason and sometime you have to just keep moving forward to see what that reason is. Life doesn't always work out as you plan but someone must be looking down on me because my life is not at all bad and I'm so grateful and lucky to have the things that I have and have the family and support group that I have.

Aww what a positive little note to end on.
Until next time.

Film Review: Big Hero 6

OMG I love this film!!

It's so funny but sad then funny again, it had me in tears and it had me laughing out loud. Obviously the best character in it is the big white guy, that's Baymax, he's a robot created to help the world.

Baymax is a personal health care companion and you fall in love with him instantly. I can't really say much about what happens in the film because it will give way too much away but he takes care of Hiro and anything that will make Hiro feel better or happier he will do, even if that incudes saving the world and becoming a superhero.

Check out the trailer by clicking here.

Another 10/10 I'll definitely be watching this one again. A lot. And yes, I giggle every single time I watch the trailer.

Also you have have have to watch this bit #BaymaxFistBump. Bahlalala :)

Film Review: Taken 3

I heard a few reviews about this film and not all of them were great but I wanted to see it for my self anyway and I have to say they were right. I loved the first Taken, Taken 2 was a but of a push but this one was a complete stretch and too far.

You can watch the trailer by clicking here.

I think they have definitely milked this for all its worth, on the plus side, no one actually gets taken so there's something new but you can tell who the bad guy is frim the start.

I really really hope they don't make another one because lets be honest they did leave it open to make one.

I'm going to give this one 6/10 because I didn't not like it, I was interested to see how it ended but it's not a film I would watch again anytime soon. It's worth a watch so you know the story.

If you've seen it let me know what you think.

Film Review: Maleficent

I think I'm way behind everyone else watching this film but I have to say I love it and have now watched it twice. It may even become a favourite. There's no singing in it so those of you who hated Frozen for that very reason, you have to give it a go.

So if you haven't seen it, its basically sleeping beauty's story written in the evil queen's perspective and what really happened, which makes you realise she's not that evil after all, sure she curses Arora but still.. you have to see her side of the story too.

I liked it because it wasn't too old fashioned with the true loves kiss thing, yes it's in there but its one of the twist of the story.

It's a definite must see and as is Disney's way, it's for all ages. Fluffy and magical enough for the young ones and heart wrenching and plot twisting enough for the rest of us.

10/10 for me and as always it has a happily ever after.

Hair cuts and home alone

Monday Musings

It's back.. Monday musings, another thing to make a weekly appearance.

This week.... guess who got her hair cut...!?

That would be me, I think I may be having some sort of quarter life crisis... or maybe I just wanted a change for the hell of it, who knows.

I can still get it in pig tails though so that's ok, it's not too short, just yet.

I did always say that I wanted to grow my hair long for when I got married soooo as I've been there, done that and bought the wedding certificate....I decided to get it off lol nah, it needed doing to be fair that's what dying your hair monthly costs you! Dry hair!

I am officially banning my self from getting it coloured. Sarah (my cousin and hairdresser) if you're reading.. don't let me do it!!

Although she did mention some pastel colours that had just come in... hmmmm. No, no no no. Not allowed and that's final... this month :)

Tonight however and the rest of this week, my beloved is working late so just call me Macaulay Culkin coz i'm home alone. Which means yea, I get the TV and space and peace an quiet but it also means I have to fend for myself in the kitchen... there's no way in hell I'm dragging my ass back out into that snow and ice for a McDonalds... nah ah.

Anyone want to come feed me?

American Sniper - Hot or Not

Weekly review

Hey guys,
Following on from last week, which again seems ages ago, I'm doing another hot or not post, as the post suggests I really am going to try my hardest to upload these weekly (fingers crossed).

This week, I just want to give a quick mention to the new film out, American Sniper.

!!Spoiler Alert!!

So I knew about the story before hand because my husband watched the interview with Chris Kyle a few weeks ago but I didn't realise that was filmed 3 years ago and obviously thought because he was talking about the book that he wrote about his life in the military and this film is based on the book that he lived happily ever after (I obviously watch way too many Disney films!)

I didn't know that he had died, so there's me watching this film with my husband, watching all these people die almost in tears saying well the one saving grace this film has is that he lives.... wow was I shocked right at the end and omg did I cry.

If you haven't seen the film but do know the full story god is it a good film, wish I'd been a little more prepared for the ending though.

Bradley Cooper did an amazing job playing Chris Kyle, it really is an amazing, heart breaking film and I definitely do recommend it to everyone, just have tissues ready yea?

Books, Coffee and Ice cream

Monday Musings

Welcome back to my Monday Musings, so this week really really dragged. I feel like my last Monday Musings was posted weeks ago that's how long it's dragged but that's probably because it's my first full week back after Christmas. Lets hope next week moves faster.

Is it weird that 2 people have commented on my eyebrows in the space of 2 weeks when I haven't done anything to them? One being my friend and the other my boss... Sorry I have no tips on this as they're 100% natural.. barely even tweezed. Just lucky I guess.

I did manage to finish the book I was reading - 'Entwined with you' by Sylvia Day (which is the coolest name ever by the way). It's the 3rd book the series I started last year and those would be the 3 books total I read last year, as commented on in my Resolutions post 'here'. I may be a little bit addicted to these books and it genuinely is for the story line not the sex content....promise. I'm definitely going to have to get the next in the series, I need to know if they live happily ever after!!

After finishing that book, I've started another called 'Dark Secrets' by Karen Rose.
I love Karen Rose and I read all of her books, usually in order but I missed this one out. Her books are kind of in a series but not, like if you read them in order you will notice that there is a story line that covers the characters, but what I like is that you don't have to read them in order because each book has it's own story line and explains everything perfectly so that you don't have to have read the previous books to understand the story, you won't have missed anything from a previous book. No matter what books I read while waiting for Karen to write another I always come racing back to her books as soon as they're published. Well worth a look at 'here'.

Saturday we finally go out and spent some of our wedding present money, we decided to get a coffee machine, so guess who has been high on coffee all weekend... yep.. meeeee! Love it x

Also.. who knew you could get Ice-cream delivered!! I know right!?
OMG love this place - Gelato Passion, So good.

I got the banoffee cookie. NOM. It's still warm when it comes and the cookie is gooey on the inside. I mean, really, how can you get better than that? Soooo good!

Hot or Not Weekly Review - Cidar Court Hotel/Restaurant

Weekly Review

Last Saturday we went on a double date with my chummy Rachel and her wife Shelley. We went to Cidar Court Hotel for a 3 course meal that we found on Groupon.

I have to say the food was really nice and I'd like to try it again. I had a melon dish to start which also had cranberries, strawberries and Cherries with berry compote. For main I had a Roast chicken breast with a tomato pasta with a tomato and herb sauce, I have to say the sauce was a little bit too watery for my liking and I think Shelley agreed with me as she had the same. To finish I had a rocky road cheesecake, It was different, I'll give it that. To be fair the cheesecake was quite nice.

One thing that did let it all down was the 'restaurant'. Whilst we all had a good time and the food was gratefully received with good service and friendly staff... the space just didn't do it for me. It looked like they had just sectioned off a small corner of the foyer and to be honest that's exactly what it was.

I can't really say I was impressed or wowed by it. Come to think of it that's probably why they were advertising on Groupon and without the Groupon voucher I definitely wouldn't pay the asking price for the whole package we received.

Not great for a best western hotel at all. Sorry to say but my first review is starting on a Not.

Let me know in the comments or on facebook or twitter if anyone else has been and had a different experience.

A new addition and goals galore

Monday Musings

Hello, welcome to the new addition to my blog. My Monday musings!
These will generally happen… you guessed it, on Mondays. Clever you!

So this week I want to start off with a pat on the back for me because guess who started their new years ‘goals’?! Not resolutions, goals!

I got my self a diary and I am on my way to blogging organisation heaven, or so I’ve told myself. I reserve judgement, lets see how this month pans out first eh? Although now I know why they say ‘I’ll pencil it in’ and note to self……. get a rubber!

I did however see a really cute Collins diary which had interchangeable inserts, so you can keep the diary casing. That looked handy and it had loads of little extras you don’t find in a standard diary but it was nearly £25 and it is just after Christmas/Wedding so my purse and husband wouldn’t allow it. Soooo I went with the cheaper option; which is still cute don’t get me wrong, but I’m so going back for the other one at some point….. at some slightly wealthier point.

Look how cute it is!!

Honestly I’m doing so well with my new years goals.
I got an email the other day from Amazon with a free book code, so I got
 Mark Billingham – Sleepyhead.

I’ll start reading that once I finish the book I’m currently reading and let you know if it’s any good.

See that’s 2 from my goals list started. I’ll let you know how I get on. To see my post on my new years goals / sort of resolutions / not resolutions / definitely goals, click here.

See you next week for more musings.

NY Resolution-ish

I don't really like new years resolutions coz you know damn well no one sticks to them but I have decided to give myself some goals to aim for...

Wording it that way makes me feel better when I fail to do them.

1. I'm going to look after myself more.
This includes Skin/hair care routines. I seriously need some tlc over here. I'm going to research and implement a proper routine. Which, might I add, will include food too. So I'm not saying that I'm going to aim to lose weight coz that's one of those biggies that makes you feel really poop when you don't do it but if it happens as a result of actually taking care of myself, then bonus!

2. I want to be more independent.
Which will definitely mean going in for and passing my driving test buying a nice little car all of my own. So watch out for adventures this year because I want to have so many.

3. I want to learn more.
This is more of what I was talking about here. I want to do something more, you know? I either want to do a course on something, learn something new, start a business or try and make a real go of blogging as a career but I need a change somewhere and I need to get out of this rut that I feel like I'm stuck in.

4. Blogging.
I'm still quite new to this whole blogging thing, so regardless of whether I try and make a career out of it I do enjoy it so I really want to get a wiggle on and get more organised - have properly planned posts instead of just emptying my head for you nice people to read.

5. Speaking of reading.
I want to read so much more, I think I've read maybe 3 books total last year! *slaps hand* My kindle must feel unwanted. I'm going to make it my mission that I read a hell of a lot more this year so book suggestions may also feature in my blog and if you have any please - give me them now!! please :)

I think 5 is more than enough to say these are goals and not a resolution.

Fun fact - I did work with a guy once who gave up chocolate as a new years resolution. As he was a stubborn little ... person... he did it, solely because everyone told him that he couldn't. After the following new year he ate so much chocolate he made him self sick.... There's a lesson in there somewhere.

Any who, Night all
Good luck on you NY Resolutions!
