Mother Shiptons Cave

Last weekend we went to Mother Shipton's Cave, here are a few pics (ok, a lot of pics but still less than a quarter of total pics taken) I took while we were out and about.

This was the view on the way to the caves. It's such a beautiful area.

There are loads of carvings and sculptures along the way...
which is a bit weird, lets be honest.

And this, a coin log, has money bashed in to the sides. According to google, and google is never wrong its either to protect people walking through hallowed ground or a wishing tree. Personally I like the first explanation but that's just me. It also looks like it did come with a hammer attached...
 but not anymore..

This is the Well Spring, it feeds in to the petrifying well/waterfall and the wishing well beneath.

Spot the croc you get 5 points.

Oh FYI, the white flowers everywhere... that's wild garlic.

This is the petrifying well. Objects have been hung from here for years, turning them to stone.

This is the wishing well, which of course I made a wish in... just in case.

And a statue of Mother Shipton herself!

We also went to the museum.... by museum, I mean a small hut at the end with some of the things they had turned to stone.

This one made me laugh.

Just in case you're greedy with wishes, you can also buy unlimited wishes...

Not even joking.

Water from the wishing well has been bottled and is being sold for £3.00.

Hope you liked this post, it's more pics than anything.

Mother Shipton also made prophecies which have since come true. Find more info on her here.

Keep your peepers open for my next one. Tomorrow we head to Scarborough.
My favourite place on earth I think.

Gina xoxo
